Application and Classification of LED Beads

What is LED:

LED is the abbreviation of light emitting diode (LED). Its basic structure is an electroluminescent semiconductor material, placed on a lead rack, and then sealed with epoxy resin around, plus the appropriate voltage can normally emit light.

Dimensional knowledge of LED chips:

According to the shape classification, chips are generally divided into wafers and squares. Among them, the wafer is relatively low-grade, and its performance is not stable enough. I generally do not use the LED produced by the wafer; the square is generally measured by size, such as 12mil (1mil = 0.0254 square millimeter). Generally speaking, the larger the chip size, the higher the brightness of the same brand chip. The most commonly used LED beads, red and yellow light are usually 9-12 mil, white, blue and green light are generally 12-14 mil. This is also the most commonly used chip in the market. If larger chips are used, the brightness can be improved a lot, but the price of the chip is greatly increased, which is why few large-scale chips are used. Because.

Common knowledge of LED color:

The different colours of LED are determined by the chips with different wavelengths. For example, red light chips have a wavelength of 620-630 nm (nanometer), green light chips have a wavelength of 527 nm, blue light chips have a wavelength of 470 nm, yellow light chips have a wavelength of 585 nm, and white light chips also use blue light chips, but add appropriate amount to blue light chips. The phosphor glows white.

Classification of LED:

According to the size of power: can be divided into small power, high power (industry generally more than 0.5W lamp called high-power lamp)

According to the shape, it can be divided into direct insertion type and patch type.

Straw cap LED: It can be subdivided into F3 (the diameter of the lamp is 3mm) and F5 (the diameter of the lamp is 5mm) according to the size of the lamp head; or it can be subdivided into boundless, thin edge, thick edge and round head according to the shape of the lamp head; according to whether the lamp head is transparent or not, it can be divided into transparent and foggy.

Piranha LED: It can also be divided into F3 and F5 according to the size of the lamp head. It can be divided into round head (that is, the most common piranha lamp) and flat head (this kind of head is very special, its luminous angle is close to 180 degrees, and it is generally used in situations requiring astigmatism).

Low-power patch LED: According to the shape size, it can be divided into 0805, 1206, 3020, 3528, 5050 or 5060 (the difference between 5050 and 5060 is very small, it is difficult to distinguish with the naked eye, and the customers who are not professional can be called according to their habits).

High-power LED: Generally according to power, the common ones are 0.5W, 1W, 3W, 5W, 8W...

Common knowledge of the number of chip of LED:

The same LED lamp, the most common is to use only one chip, but in special circumstances can use two or even up to four chips, such as: a straw hat lamp can use one or two chips (considering its small size, inconvenient heat dissipation, resulting in performance instability, generally using only one or two chips); a piranha lamp can be used. One, two, three, four chips, one and two chips are the most commonly used chips; one, two and three chips can be used for SMD 3528 lamp (we often use one or two chips), and three chips are commonly used for SMD 5050/5060. Specifically, when three chips are used for patch lamps, there are two situations:

1. The colours of the three chips are identical.

2. The three chips are red, green and blue, which we often call RGB lamps.

Common knowledge of LED viewing angle:

The most common light-emitting angle of a direct-plug LED is 120 degrees, especially 45 degrees, or 15 degrees.

LED Voltage Common Knowledge:

Single low-power LED lamp, different colors, its required voltage is also different. Red/yellow: 1.8-2.1 volts, white/green/blue: 3.0-3.6 volts. The voltage required for 1W high power lamp is the same as above.

Current knowledge of LED:

1. Low-power LED lamps (including plug-in or patch type), the current allowed on each chip should not be higher than 20 mA; the current allowed on each dual-chip lamp should not be higher than 40 mA; similarly, each three-chip lamp should not be higher than 60 mA.

2. High-power LED, I often use 1W, the maximum current allowed through it is 150 mA.

1. Definitions of Candlelight, International Candlelight and Candela

At the standard atmospheric pressure of 101,325 Newtons per square metre, the absolute "black body" with an area equal to 1/60 square centimeters (i.e. an ideal object capable of absorbing all external light without reflecting) has a vertical luminous intensity of 1 Candela at the solidification temperature of pure platinum (about 2042K at 1769 C). Moreover, the three concepts of candlelight, international candlelight and Candela are different and should not be equated. In terms of quantity, 60 candles equals 58.8 international candles, and 1 candlelight of Hefner lamp equals 0.885 international candles or 0.919 candles.

2. Luminescence intensity and brightness

The luminous intensity is abbreviated as light intensity. The international unit is Candela (Candela) abbreviated as cd. Lcd refers to the luminous flux emitted by a light source in a specified direction within a unit solid angle. Brightness is the brightness of the luminous surface. 3.mcd value

Mcd value is an irregular term in the industry. Because of the difference of testing instruments, the measured MCD value of the same product varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. In the actual sales process, the two most common concepts are lumen and brightness (mcd) values. As a salesperson, you don't need to fully understand the technology, but you need to keep in mind the MCD value of our conventional small power LED lamp (based on the parameters listed in the quotation sheet).

Common knowledge of colo (u) r temperature of LED:

The color temperature is a general index to indicate the spectral quality of light source. The color temperature is defined by absolute blackbody. When the radiation of the light source is exactly the same in the visible region and the absolute blackbody, the temperature of the blackbody is called the color temperature of the light source. The characteristic of low color temperature light source is that there is more red radiation in the energy distribution, which is usually called "warm light". When the color temperature increases, the proportion of blue radiation in the energy distribution increases, which is usually called "cold light". The color temperatures of some common light sources are: standard candlelight 1930K (Kelvin temperature unit); tungsten filament lamp 2760-2900K; fluorescent lamp 3000K; flash lamp 3800K; noon sunlight 5400K; electronic flash lamp 6000K; blue sky 12000-18000K. Generally defined, warm white temperature: 2700-3200K, fair white: 4000-4500K, daylight: 6000-6500K, cold white: more than 6500K

What are the advantages of LED light source

(4) Small size, light weight, resistance: this is the inherent characteristics of semiconductor solid devices. Color LED can make all kinds of clear and delicate display devices.

(5) Easy to adjust light, color and controllability: As a light-emitting device, LED can control brightness through the change of current, and also can realize the change and adjustment of color through the configuration of different wavelength LED. Therefore, the light source or display panel composed of LED is easy to meet the needs of various applications through electronic control, and it is extremely difficult to be compatible with IC computers. In addition, the application of LED light source is not limited by the bass in principle. It has strong plasticity and can be extended arbitrarily to achieve building block assembly. At present, the large screen color display screen is not LED.
